The New Frontier of the Chocolate World – Toasted Corn Chocolate Bar

Master Chocolatier Christopher Curtin, owner and founder of Eclat Chocolate in West Chester, Pennsylvania, introduces a Toasted Corn Chocolate Bar. It is a frontier not yet ventured to and undoubtedly a new and exciting addition to the wonderful world of chocolate.

This unique chocolate bar was introduced as one of Eclat’s new “Obsession Bars” at the Fancy Food Show in New York June 27th-29th. Each bar (3oz) is packaged in a chic black box with a boldly colored airport tag as its label, humorously similar to the kind you get on your luggage when traveling. Simply named after the airport code where the featured ingredient comes from, each bar highlights a different region of the world. The toasted corn bar is labeled “CUZ” for a variety of toasted corn originally from Cuzco, Peru. Other Obsession bars include Pennsylvania Dutch pretzels from Philadelphia, cacao nibs from Belgium, caramelized hazelnuts from Spain, Aleppo chile and pink peppercorn from Syria, and wasabi peas from Japan. Eclat’s Obsession Bars are priced at $7.50 and will be available for purchase by July 20th. “Corn had a huge impact historically on ancient culture and pre-columbian cuisine in South America,” said Curtin about toasted corn. “Sometimes the best flavor combinations are so obvious, one doesn’t see them right away. For example, the use of corn and chocolate. It was the concept of going back to the roots where chocolate originated from that inspired me to add the corn to chocolate.”

The nutty, toasty flavor of the crushed toasted corn is up-front and present and the smoothness of the 54% dark chocolate brings it all together for an authentic old-world flavor. It is definitely an unexpected and delightfully surprising treat that can be enjoyed by all.

Eclat’s Obsession bars are a bold and beautiful line of chocolate that highlights a love for travel and various cultures and allows one to take a pause in the day to enjoy the simple luxury of a hand-crafted creation.
