3rd Annual Running of the Turkeys Returns to West Chester, Nov. 18

Don’t miss this year’s 3rd Annual Running of the Turkeys, set to kick-off at John DeBella’s Annual Turkey Drop. The unique 1-mile run will be run through the streets of West Chester on Sunday, November 18th, with participants carrying a frozen turkey. The big cold bird may be transported in any manner but if you’re going for the gold, make sure it’s a successful carrying system.

Those who are interested in the slightly foolish fun should head to Kildare’s Irish Pub at 18 W. Gay Street for sign-ups at 11 a.m. The race begins at 1 p.m. and all you need to participate is one frozen turkey. Keep your wallets in your pockets unless you show up without the signature Thanksgiving bird, then there will be a limited number on sale the day of the race courtesy of US Foods.

Runners are able to snag great prizes from area businesses for several categories. A prize will go to runners carrying the heaviest turkey, runners carrying the most turkeys, the most creative turkey carry, and the best holiday outfits — plus, the first 150 people to sign up for the race will receive a t-shirt. This 1-mile dash is also for a great cause, which makes everyone a winner in the end.

Be sure to stop by Kildare’s for the award ceremony and a post-run party. There will be great food and drink specials, plus much more!
