Craft Your Weekend with Fermentation Festival, Meet the Makers and Kennett Brewfest

Something about fall makes you want to throw on a flannel with some boots and get your hands dirty, right? While the ambition to live the DIY lifestyle is often there, the skills are not. And they don’t have to be, thanks to amazing artisans who are naturally awesome at creating the best cheeses, breads, beers and more.

This weekend there will be a few large gatherings of crafty men and women, prepared to unleash their creations and knowledge upon people like you. While Saturday’s Kennett Brewfest is already sold out, the two other affairs, one taking place during the Kennett Square Farmer’s Market and the other immediately following it, will offer a wide range of artisanal knowledge, tasty goods for sampling, unique drinks for sipping and more!

Fermentation Festival

Friday, September 28 – 2 to 6pm – FREE

The Kennett Square Farmers Market will celebrate the changing seasons by highlighting all things fermented. Guests are invited to taste samples of fermented beverages and foods. They can learn how to make homemade kimchi, kombucha, yogurt, and how to save seeds for next season at the exciting workshops and demonstrations. All your favorite Kennett Square’s Farmers Market vendors and special crafters will also be on site to explore, plus childrens’ activities and live music will keep spirits high throughout the fermentation-themed Farmers Market. Be sure to stop by and experience the Kennett Square Farmers Market like never before.

Meet the Makers

Friday, September 28 – 4:30 to 8pm – $10

Meet the Makers is a boutique tasting in association with Kennett Brewfest that will feature fermented fare, beer, wine, hard cider, fermented spirits, and cheeses. For just $10, lovers of all crafty foods can sample their way through Kennett Square’s cream of the crop. The celebration will take place at 120 East State Street with live music from Sin City Lite. All proceeds will benefit Historic Kennett Square. If you’re attending Kennett Brewfest the following day, it’s the perfect pre-cursor. If you missed nagging tickets to that grand event, then Meet the Makers is your next best option. The talent, knowledge and offerings will be absolutely incomparable.

Kennett Brewfest

 Saturday, September 29 – 2 to 6pm – SOLD OUT

Every year this one of a kind craft beer festival is a sold out event and there’s no wondering why. With over 60 local, regional, and craft breweries, including many rare gems, anyone who enjoys a good craft beer once and a while will feel right at home during the festival. PA Eats is lucky enough to be attending again this year as a Media Sponsor and we’ll be toting our trusty photo booth to catch all the brew sampling in action. Guests are most likely to keep busy with noted breweries such as Dock Street, Great Lakes, Goose Island, Ommegang, River Horse and so many more talents in the line up. Spy the full list HERE and, if you’re one of the lucky ones, get pumped for Saurday. If you missed out this year, take a peek at the list anyway as motivation to get your tickets early in 2013. Cheers!
