Ghostly Happenings Unfolding Through Halloween in Chestnut Hill

If you are looking for things that go bump in the night, Chestnut Hill has plenty. Here’s their spooky Halloween line-up you won’t want to miss.

Whispers Along the Wissahickon

Friday, Oct. 19 – 5:30 to 9 p.m. – Wissahickon Environmental Center (Andorra Tree House)

There are still a few tickets left for Whispers Along the Wissahickon so snag ’em now. This popular autumn celebration, hosted by the Friends of the Wissahickon (FOW), always sells out early because it’s the best way to welcome the fall season and show off your Halloween costume. There will be hayrides, face painting, magic, live music, hearty food, complimentary beer and wine, and the company of neighbors and friends who appreciate the chance to enjoy the woods at night. Tickets for Whispers Along the Wissahickon are $30 for adults, $15 for children, and $85 for a family of four (two adults/two children). Harry Potter Weekend 

Friday, Oct. 26 to Sunday, Oct. 28 – Various Times & Locations (full schedule here)

Chestnut Hill will be celebrating everyone’s favorite, modern fantasy series with not one, not two, but three days of Harry Potter themed activities. Starting Friday, October 26th, at 6 p.m., guests can head to Top of the Hill Fountain Plaza for the Opening Ceremonies. Plenty of materials, personnel and information will be available at the first event so you can plan your course of attack for the remainder of the Harry Potter infused evening and weekend. The events are not just for kids, as one includes a Harry Potter pub crawl and scavenger hunt. However, children that do attend will have plenty of fun with the movie showings, ghost tours, straw mazes, trick or treating, and a quidditch match. Plus, a complimentary Knight Bus Trolley in Chestnut Hill will help everyone stroll the avenue to catch each event. You’ll feel that you’ve landed right between the pages of the famous story with these magical happenings set to unfold. Annual Ghost Walk

Saturday, Oct. 27 – 6:30/7/7:30/8/8:30 – Chestnut Hill Library

Your October wouldn’t be complete without a guided, historic tour that highlights the spookiest features and backstories of a town. That’s where the Annual Ghost Walk of Chestnut Hill comes in. With several departure times slated to take off at Chestnut Hill Library at 8711 Germantown Avenue, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to attend this frightening affair. Tickets are available at Sovereign Bank and Chestnut Hill Welome center for this unique event that includes four talented story tellers and a showing of Balleroy Mansion, the most haunted mansion in Chestnut Hill. Haunted Horses Costume Parade & Open House

Sunday, Oct. 28 – 11am to 2pm – Fairmount Park

Horse and rider teams will display their Halloween pride at this one of a kind event with the Northwestern Equestrian Facility. All are welcome to come see the funniest, scariest and most creative horse & rider costumes. Guests will be able to tour the historic barns for fun, educational purposes. There will also be face painting and other kid friendly activities. To continue all the excitement of Harry Potter weekend, attendees will have the opportunity to visit Hagrid’s favorite winged horse from the forbidden forest, Tenebrus. Costumes are encouraged for those who are attending and for their leashed, horse-friendly dogs that they bring as well. More information HERE.
