Local Students Named Winners of Trattoria San Nicola’s Fifth Annual Art Contest

Trattoria San Nicola (4 Manor Rd., Paoli) announces the winners for their Fifth Annual Student Art Contest. Students from more than 20 local area high schools were invited to submit original artwork depicting this year’s contest theme, “Italian street scenes.”

Throughout the month of February and into March, participating students’ artwork hung inside the restaurant for dining patrons to view and then vote on the best pieces. Students demonstrated their creativity and talent while being challenged to capture the essence of the quaint European streets. Winners were chosen based on their artwork’s originality, authenticity, use of medium, use of theme, use of space and a strong focal point.

Dining patrons also had the opportunity to vote on their favorite pieces and, together with a panel of professional judges, choose the winners. Awards were presented to 1st and 2nd place winners for grades 9-10 and 1st, 2ndand 3rd place winners for grades 11-12. In addition, there were also seven honorable mentions.

Winners are as follows:

9th & 10th Grade Category

  • 1st Place – Haley De Martin, Phoenixville Area High school
  • 2nd Place – Margaux Bigelow, Agnes Irwin School

11th & 12th Grade Category

  • 1st Place – Carrie Volpert, Agnes Irwin School
  • 2nd Place – Caroline Santilli, Agnes Irwin School
  • 3rd Place– Madeline Yoh, Agnes Irwin School
