Historic Kennett Square’s First Friday Art Stroll Unfolds Tonight, April 5

Enjoy arts and culture, eclectic shopping, great dining or simply a beautiful walk on a fine spring evening tonight in Kennett Square during the First Friday Art Stroll!

From 6 to 9 p.m., merchants will be offering a variety of activities at Kennett Square’s shops, restaurants and galleries. Here’s just a sample:

Kennett SquareKennett Design (117 W. State Street) will be featuring two of its instruction artists showing Recycled Treasures. Jaqueline Connell will exhibit her hand-painted recycled mirrors. Jennifer McKay Higgins will be displaying her original freehand drawings done on recycled brown paper and hand-cut linoleum block prints on recycled bags.

Flickerwood Wine Tasting Room (116 W. State Street) invites you to see the work of fusion glass artist Tracey Regester. Her jewelry and glassware are made from recycled wine bottles. Live music by Angelee will run from 7 to 10:30 p.m.

Longwood Art Gallery (200 E. State Street) will be hosting an artist reception for Mary Holton from 6 to 9 p.m., with wine, cheese, live music and lively conversation. Mary paints in acrylic, ink and multi-media and is inspired by the impressionistic techniques of the Cape Cod artists. The show runs through April 30.

Scout & Annie + Details (125 E. State Street) invites you to join them for cocktails from 6 to 8 p.m. in celebration of their new joint venture. In addition to vintage furnishings, you can now find gorgeous accessories as well as custom designs.

Kennett Square Art StrollVignette (123 E. State Street) encourages you to come tailgate with them on First Friday. Cold beer, picnic finger food and music from the ’50s will all be part of the fun. View their truly exquisite collection of hats by award-winning designers Patricia Underwood and Carol Bader (whose hats are in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum and the Philadelphia Art Museum, among others).

Charles Metzger Pottery (107 S. Union Street) will be serving refreshments and demonstrating throwing flower vases on the potters’ wheel.

Frolic! Boutique (101 W. State Street) will be open late and offering a glass of wine as you check out the latest spring fashions.

Mystique (112 E. State Street) invites you to stop in on First Friday and listen to singer/songwriter Denise on the guitar as you browse their racks and add some spring color to your wardrobe.

Kennett SquareCentre for Vibrant Living (331 E. State Street) will be showing the art of Katy Winters, Paula Graham and Erica Thompson, as well as live music by “The Greatest Unknown Artist”—Dain Carlton—who’ll be peforming tracks from his new album Unknown Artist.

Bliss Yoga Studio (at the rear of 123 E. State Street) will be featuring the Dreamer’s Jewelry of Cathy Osberg Codding and Justin Jaye Carbonara, who create unique, one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted jewelry. Designs in different colors can easily be commissioned. Wine and cheese will be served.

Mala Galleria (206 W. State Street) welcomes visitors for the Art Stroll with eclectic works by local, national and international artists and craftspeople.

The Growing Tree Toy Shop (114 W. State Street) will be holding its Grand Opening from 6 to 8 p.m. and will be hosting local children’s author Dalen Keys as part of the event. The newly themed shop features the popular Melissa and Doug line of toys.

The Eco Boutique (103 W. State Street) will be hosting local author Thea Toocheck from 6 to 8 p.m. Thea returns to sign her second book in the Transcendence Series, Night Crawlers.
