With all this NCAA Tournament talk, we’re sure you’ve heard the term “March Madness” getting tossed around. That may be the center of attention for sports fanatics right now but Chef Karen Weinstein, the fresh food crusader behind Doc Magrogan’s cuisine, is much more concerned about Mussel Madness.
This delicious seafood celebration will last all month long, featuring steamed, fried and Fra Diavlo mussels at Doc Magrogan’s Oyster Houses in University City and West Chester, PA beginning Saturday, March 9th. Each of the dishes featured in this campaign utilize prized Prince Edward Island mussels, and will be available until the 2013 NCAA men’s basketball champion is crowned on Monday, April 8th.
Weinstein’s $12 Steamed Trio features bowls of mussels in slow-roasted tomato sauce; a lemon grass-ginger broth; and spicy corn and crab chowder. Each trio comes paired with a choice of an Irish, American or Belgian beer flight featuring three 6 oz. beers for an additional $12. Karen’s fried mussels are dipped in buttermilk, dredged in cracker meal and deep fried golden brown then served with celeriac apple slaw and Guinness BBQ sauce for $9. An $18 Beer Mussels steamer pot includes 2 lbs. of plump mussels steamed in Doc’s Hard Cider and served with house made garlic bread. And the $16 Fra Diavlo includes a pound of mussels bathed in a spicy tomato broth with banana and cherry peppers served over linguini.
Open seven days a week for lunch, dinner and brunch on Saturdays and Sundays, Doc Magrogan’s Oyster Houses are located at 3432 Sansom Street in University City and at 117 East Gay Street in West Chester, PA. Visit www.docmagrogans.com for reservations and more information.
