13 Devil’s Den Events Worth Scouting for Philly Beer Week

We’ve had Philly Beer Week marked on our calendars since 2013’s festivities came to an end. It’s pretty safe to say we love beer over here at PA Eats. The folks over at Philly’s Devil’s Den are just as excited as we are! They’re seriously gearing up for what will surely be an epic line-up of beer events to complement an already stellar event in Philly Beer Week. In fact, they’re wasting no time getting beer week started—their first event is a whole day before PBW officially kicks off. Read on for a full itinerary of what’s moving and shaking over at Devil’s Den in Philadelphia.

Thursday, May 29: Unibroue’s Maudite Midnight Madness

Devil’s Den will welcome Philly Beer Week hours before it begins with the Canadian brewery Unibroue. From 7 p.m. to midnight, beer fans can enjoy $1 off all Unibroue beers. Unibroue representatives will be on hand all night with plenty of free giveaways, such as glassware, shirts and more. At midnight, hold up a glass of Maudite and toast to another Philly Beer Week. Drafts: Terrible, Raftman, Maudite, La Fin Du Monde, Ephemere Apple, Blanche De Chambly, Trois Pistoles. Bottles: La Fin Du Monde, Maudite, 17, Ephemere.

Friday, May 30: The 6th Annual Bella Vista Beer Bash

Bella Vista Beer Distributors are back at it and will take over Devil’s Den’s 17 draft lines for the first night of Philly Beer Week. From 7 p.m. to 2 a.m., Bella Vista will be showcasing some of their favorite beers along with the some of the rarest kegs they have in their inventory. Breweries on Draft: 12% Imports, Ballast Point, Barrier, Boulder Beer Company, Bullfrog Brewery, Carton, Cigar City, Dark Horse, DuClaw Brewery, Funky Buddha, Half Acre, Hill Farmstead, Lavery, Kane, Kelso, Perennial Artisanal Ale, Old Forge, Oxbow, Saltwater, Clownshoes, Voodoo, Dc Brau, Neshaminey Creek, Arcadia, Barrier and many more!

Saturday, May 31: Arcadia Beer Brunch

Representatives from Michigan brewery Arcadia will stop by Devil’s Den for brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Brunchgoers will enjoy $1 off all Arcadia beers while receiving free brewery giveaways. Brunch beer cocktails made with Arcadia beer will also be available. Check out a Beermosa or a BBQ Beer Bloody Mary. Drafts: Whitsun, London Porter, Deliverance, Pin Dry Hopped Hopmouth. Bottles: Nut Brown, Sky High Rye.

Saturday, May 31: Where the Local Wild Things Are Featuring Funk Brewing & Fegley’s Brew Works

Devil’s Den will host tap takeovers with two Pennsylvania breweries, Funk Brewing and Fegley’s Brew Works. Both brewers will be in house to talk about all things beer from 6 to 11 p.m. Beer lovers will enjoy $1 off drafts from both breweries. Each brewery will bring four different kegs from their brewery; expect to see lots of sour and wild aged beer. Funk Brewing Drafts: Crimson, Brood, Citrus IPA, Effervescence or Savage Sour. Fegleys Brew Works: Brett Hops’lutely, Insidious, Space Monkey, a TBD sour ale.

Sunday, June 1: Barren Hill Beer Brunch

Devil’s Den is proud to host a Barren Hill Tavern & Brewery brunch from their sister brewpub from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The new brewery, which won a bronze medal at the World Beer Cup for its Biere de Extra, will be stopping by with a variety of beers, including some brand new brews. All Barren Hill beers will be $1 off. A variety of beer cocktails made with Barren Hill beer will also be available for brunch. Award-winning Head Brewer Scott Morrison will also be in attendance. Drafts: Old School, Baltic, Citra (new beer, single series hopped), German Wheat.

Sunday, June 1: Weyerbacher Brewing Night

Representative Mike Lubieski of Weyerbacher Brewing will be stopping by Devil’s Den from 6 p.m. to midnight with numerous Weyerbacher kegs and bottles that will be $1 off. Some rare beers such as the Tart Nouveau and new beers like the Sunday Morning Stout will be available to sample. Drafts: Tart Nouveau, Heresy, Viridus lupulius, Sunday Morning Stout, Maibock, Monks, Tango in Dad’s Hat Barrels, firkin TBD.

Monday, June 2: Summit Brewing Company Oyster Night

From 7 p.m. to midnight, Head Brewer of Summit Brewing Company Damian McConn will be at Devil’s Den to answer all of your brewing questions. Along with a Q& A, he’ll also be giving out free items while patrons sip on all Summit beers for $1 off.  Oyster specials made with Summit beer will be running all night long. Drafts: Fest, Extra Pale Ale, Frostline Rye Ale, Porter, Saga IPA & Summer Kolsch. Oyster Menu: Raw oysters with Summit’s Summer Kolch mignonette, Fried Oyster Po Boy (Beer Battered Oyster with Frostline Rye Ale), Bloody Mary Oyster Shooters with Summit Extra Pale Ale, Oysters Rockefeller, Devil’s on Horseback.

Tuesday, June 3: Clown Shoes Carnival

Devil’s Den will be bringing a carnival inside the bar from 7 p.m. to midnight. All Clown Shoes Beers will be $1 off. In honor of the brewery, the kitchen will be preparing carnival-inspired food specials. No carnival is complete without entertainment. This fun and interactive event will include a balloon artist, a caricature artist, dressed-up dogs and whatever carnival-inspired attire patrons wish to wear. Drafts: Chocolate Sombrero, Clemetine, Galactica, Muffin Top, Royal Standard, Space Cake, Tramp Stamp, Undead Party Crasher. Food Menu: Corn Dogs, Fried Oreos, Funnel Cake, Popcorn (truffle parmesan, sweet ‘n spicy and caramel), Loaded Cheese Fries.

Wednesday, June 4: Ballast Point & Mission Brewing

Ballast Point Brewing Company and Mission Brewing from San Diego, California, have made their way to Devil’s Den for a massive California tap takeover. Guest can enjoy $1 off all beers, draft and bottle, from the breweries from 7 p.m. to midnight. Representatives from both breweries will be on hand.

Thursday, June 5: Stay Classy San Diego 

San Diego will be invading Devil’s Den on Thursday June 5 with a SoCal tap-takeover from 7 p.m. to midnight. Guests will enjoy popular beers from a variety of Southern California breweries for $1 off all drafts and bottles while noshing on some typical Cali-style street food. Representatives from all the breweries will be in the bar as well. Drafts: Green Flash, Stone, Port/Lost Abbey, Mission, Coronado, Stone, Ballast Point and more. Food Menu: Mexi Corn on the Cob, Housemade Guacamole with Corn Tortilla Chips, Blackened Shrimp Tacos, Grilled Skirt Steak and Chorizo Tostada, Stuffed Poblano Peppers.

Friday, June 6: Shawnee Craft Brewing

The Poconos’ popular craft brewery Shawnee will stop by Devil’s Den from 7 p.m. to midnight with $1 off all Shawnee Craft beers. The brewers will also be available for a Q&A session. Guests can also enjoy dessert pairings from Chef Melissa and Sous Chef Mel. Drafts: Session Porter Nitro, Triple, Biere Blanche, Apiriaus, Double Pale Ale, Belgian IPA, Raspberry Blanche.

Saturday, June 7: Dog Days of Summer

Devil’s Den will be invaded with all things dog-inspired on June 7. From noon to midnight, guests can enjoy dog-themed beers. $1 from each beer purchased will be donated to PAWS. Devil’s Den will also be running a special Hot Dog Menu. Drafts: Thirsty Dog Honey Ginger IPA, Thirsty Dog Berliner, Barren Hill Odinator, Smuttynose Old Brown Dog, Laughing Dog Sneaky Pete, Flying Dog, Two Brothers Dog. Hot Dog Menu: Chili Dog, Banh-Mi Dog, Freddy Dog, Buffalo Chicken Dog and a Veggie Dog.

Sunday June 8: Ommegang Beer Brunch

Ommegang Brewery will be taking over Devil’s Den for the final day of Philly Beer Week. Guests can enjoy the last day of festivities with $1 off all Ommegang beer, brunch and beer brunch cocktails made with Ommegang beer. Representatives will be at the bar giving away tons of free memorabilia. Drafts: TBA.
