New Collaborative Brew Hits the Taps at Red Owl Tavern

Old City’s Red Owl Tavern and West Philadelphia’s Dock Street Brewery have partnered on a new, collaborative beer—Red Awl IPA—that will be served exclusively at Red Owl Tavern.

“We entered this process throwing around a lot of ideas and weren’t sure what the final product would look like,” said Kyle Darrow, head bartender at Red Owl Tavern. “We discussed a Pale Ale or IPA that could be described as all too drinkable—and Dock Street nailed it with the Red Awl.”

Red Awl IPA is a medium-bodied Red IPA, clocking in at 6.4% ABV.

“We know Red Awl has enough caramel sweetness and spicy, citrusy American hop character to entice and summon beer drinkers,” said Marilyn Candeloro, vice president of Dock Street Brewery. “It’s a bright beer with a burnt orange color that is dazzling.”

Dock Street’s collaboration with one of Philadelphia’s premier dining establishments is nothing new.

“Back in 2012, we partnered with the Four Seasons for a Beer Four All Seasons collaboration that included one of our all-time favorites, Truffled Old Ale, which was barrel aged with black winter truffles,” said Candeloro. “More recently, we were proud to work with Garces Group to create the Olde Dock Street Oyster Stout brewed with Cape May Salts Oysters, which can be found on tap at The Olde Bar and a few other Garces Group spots.”

The Red Awl IPA is now on tap at Red Owl Tavern.
