The Zapple

Adapted from Spice & Ice: 60 tongue– tingling cocktails, by Kara Newman.
Hot, sweet, sour, strong—this whiskey
sour on steroids is a drink to warm the bones on a blustery late-autumn day.
1 ounce habanero–infused applejack, calvados or apple cider* (see below)
1 ounce The Balvenie
½ ounce amaretto
¾ ounce lemon juice
Combine ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake vigorously and strain into an ice-filled sour glass.
*Habanero–infused applejack, calvados
or apple cider (makes enough for several cocktails)
1 habanero pepper, sliced
1 cup applejack, calvados or apple cider

Steep the habanero in the liquor for about 2 hours and then remove the pepper.
