29th Annual Chester County Antiques Show Comes to West Chester

Whether you are an avid collector, want to peruse a stunning collection of antiques, or just support the Chester County Historical Society, you won’t want to miss the 29th Annual Chester Country Antiques Show this weekend, March 18th through 20th.

This year’s theme will be “Collecting Knowledge: A Lifelong Pursuit” and what better place to host this event than the historical Westtown School, 975 Westtown Road, West Chester, which opened its doors in 1799. The spacious field house at Westtown School has been described as “the best venue for an antiques show in the Delaware Valley” by Maine Antiques Digest and will contain collections from over 50 dealers available to purchase.

These treasures include 18th and 19th century American and Continental furniture, rugs, paintings, porcelain, glass, silver, jewelry, needlework and other decorative arts. Special exhibits exclusive to the CCHS collection will be showcased throughout the weekend as well.

The Preview Party is Friday, March 18th from 6 to 9pm which includes enchanting cocktails, scrumptious hors d’oeuvres and a light buffet for $130 a ticket. Partygoers have a chance to meet CCHS board members and antique enthusiasts, and also participate in a scavenger hunt throughout the evening. If you want to be the first to see the antiques at 5pm, snag an early admission ticket for $200.

This prestigious event is open from 10am to 7pm on Saturday and from 11am to 5pm on Sunday. Hungry for more than just magnificent antiques? Stop by the Gourmet Cafe provided by Westtown Catering from 10am to 6:30pm on Saturday and from 11am to 4pm on Sunday.

Saturday’s enlightening lectures include two expert speakers for a fee of $5 with paid admission. At 1 pm, Dawn Heefner, member of the National Association of Appraisers, will be leading “Quilt Scene Investigation” and Margaret Johnson Sutor, VP of the Transferware Collector’s Club, will give the talk “A Study of Ceramics” at 3pm.
