Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant to Release Bottled Reserves Gift Packs for the Holidays

Local craft beer lovers will rejoice when they spot an Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant‘s special-release Bottled Reserves Gift Packs under their tree!

Beginning on Black Friday, November 25, all eight Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant locations will offer Holiday Bottled Reserves Gift Packs for sale. The gift packs will showcase Iron Hill’s Bottled Reserves series of award-winning (Great American Beer Fest winners’ included) and seasonal beers, brewed in small batches and available only in large-format, cork finished 750 mL bottles. Whether you want to purchase three Belgian-style beers to sample side by side or their FE 15 Anniversary beer with custom, etched glassware–all packs will perk up any beer-loving, gift-receiver.

2011’s gift packs will include the following:

  • Gold Medal ($65), with four of Iron Hill’s Great American Beer Festival (GABF) gold medal winners including Cannibal, a Belgian golden ale brewed in tribute to one of the world’s greatest cyclists, Eddy “The Cannibal” Merckx, Russian Imperial Stout, a full-bodied stout that starts with a complex, malty sweet and high-roasted character that is wonderfully balanced with the use of citrusy American hops, Saison, a Belgian farmhouse-style ale with earthy, fruity, spicy notes and a refreshing finish and Wee Heavy, a full-bodied Scotch-style ale with a distinct malty-sweet and fruity aroma and flavor
  • Belgian Abbey ($50), with three Belgian-style ales including Abbey Dubbel, a mahogany ale that has the sweetness of dark Belgian candi sugar paired with a distinct aroma of plum and pears, Abbey Tripel, a traditional Beligan-style golden ale;  and Abbey Quadrupel, rich, dark, malty and very complex
  • FE 15 ($40), featuring a bottle of 15th Anniversary Beer and two etched crystal glasses.  FE 15 was brewed by owners Kevin Finn, Mark Edelson and Kevin Davis at their original Newark location in September 2011.  It is an Imperial American Tripel, named FE 15 for the chemical symbol for iron, Fe, plus their anniversary number, 15.  The trio chose this beer because they wanted to use only American hops while incorporating pilsner malt to create a very hoppy, strong beer with ABV 15%.  Fe15 features a custom-designed label from local artist Jeff Schaller of PinkCow Studio.  Schaller frequently collaborates with Iron Hill (and is a TownDish contributor); in addition to his fun, whimsical beer labels, he also created the signature wall murals at all Iron Hill locations.
  • Winter Wheat Wine Ale ($30), featuring a bottle of winter wheat wine and two etched Iron Hill wine glasses.  Winter Wheat Wine Ale is a hybridization of barleywine and American wheat ale with strong, rich, malty flavors balanced by subtle sweetness.
Of course, we are always partial to gifting any Iron Hill beer lover an Mug Club membership. For $35, recipients will receive a Mug Club card loaded with 200 points and Iron Hill’s 24-ounce handmade beer mug, in an attractive gift box. Once the card is activated online, Mug Club perks include:  Beer mug filled for the same price as a 16 ounce pint (including any Iron Hill pint promotions); invitations to exclusive Mug Club events throughout the year; and direct e-mail contact with head brewers regarding upcoming releases and events.  Members receive a point for each dollar spent at Iron Hill, earning a $25 credit for every 300 points accrued.
