U.S. Open Champ Justin Rose Celebrates His Victory at Gypsy Saloon

The U.S. Open Championship 2013 came to a close at Ardmore’s legendary Merion Golf Club on Sunday, June 16, with 32-year-old Justin Rose winning his first major tournament. Justin became the first Englishman to win the U.S. Open in 43 years, and he had kind words to say about all things Philadelphia.

Just moments before Justin took home his title, Gypsy Saloon‘s owner Kim Strengari received a call booking a reservation for the champion golfer and his crew. Rose had been partial to Strengari and Marianne Gere’s other restaurant, Stella Blu, during his time in Merion. Since Stella Blu is closed on Sundays, he opted to explore the restaurateurs’ other Conshohocken spot, Gypsy Saloon.

Like any champion would do, Rose celebrated his victories until 2 a.m. Monday morning, enjoying a bottle of complimentary champagne—courtesy of Strengari and Gere. Word is, he’s a generous tipper too.

Rose told Strengari that he loves Philadelphia and wants to come back to see more of the city.

You’re welcome back anytime, Justin.
