Vella Debuts in the Former Freskada’s Home at Main Street at Exton

Vella Exterior

The former home of Freskada in the Main Street at Exton shopping center recently received a Mediterranean makeover, courtesy of its new owner Derrick Wheeler. As of Oct. 22, the brand-new Vella BYO debuted for lunch and dinner service, specializing in fresh, hand-crafted Mediterranean dishes, inspired by the northern Mediterranean regions of France, Spain and Italy.

Like Freskada, Vella spotlights wood-fired options like flatbreads and upscale pizzas, both topped with high-quality ingredients like fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains and natural oils. Appetizers like the falafel with house-made tahini and French baked brie drizzled with honey promise satisfying meal beginnings. Entrees max out at $26, featuring an enticing range including prosciutto-wrapped shrimp with linguine in a white wine sauce, mushroom-stuffed ravioli and paella. Wheeler summoned the help of designer Joseph D’Ambro to rehab the interior, one that now arrives dressed with rustic, distressed touches and moody creams, blacks and maroons. Glimpses inside below.
