Small business owners definitely don’t have it easy these days. Mom and pop-type places open up just as quickly as they can fizzle out. Trying to find a niche or the perfect location can make or break a business.
Luckily, the owners over at Earth Bread + Brewery in Mt. Airy seem to have it all figured out. Setting up shop back in 2008 was an easy decision for husband/wife duo, Tom Baker and Peggy Zwerver. They went in knowing exactly the kind of operation they were hoping to run: a sustainable restaurant and brewery. Six years later, Tom is still brewing his own beer, they still purchase products from local farms, and they’re still naturally flavoring their own sodas.
With 11 taps on hand, you’ll typically find four of their own brews along with seven Pennsylvania or East Coast brews being poured. With plenty of options on their menu, Earth Bread + Brewery is most well-known for their flatbreads which are served in two sizes, to share or not to share.
