8 Craft Beers You Should Be Drinking This November

The beer industry is continually evolving with new, refreshing brews constantly hitting the shelves. With the change of the season, new beer products pop up, providing beer lovers the chance to try different and exciting flavors. This November, we’re all about keeping the autumnal vibes going with roasty malts, pumpkin, chocolate and coffee and boosted ABVs for cold nights. We’ll be sure to keep a few hoppy, crisp beers in the fridge for those unexpected warm days, too.

Looking to sample some of-the-moment fall beers? Here are eight brews to add to your shopping list ASAP:

Rogue Pumpkin Patch Ale

November Craft Beers

Just because Halloween has passed doesn’t mean we’re ready to give up pumpkin beers! Though they’ve been on the shelves since August (always a head-scratcher), we’re just getting to primo pumpkin beer weather. A cool fall evening is the ideal time to crack open an orange bottle of Rogue Ales and Spirits’ Rogue Pumpkin Patch Ale. This 6.1% ABV brew is created during pumpkin harvest, and utilizes fresh Rogue Farms-grown pumpkins, harvested at peak ripeness for optimal flavor. Find Rogue Pumpkin Patch Ale by visiting the Rogue beer finder online.

2SP Baby Bob

2SP Brewing Company offers its Baby Bob stout throughout the year, but its roasty and chocolate malts and American hops makes it a perfect fall beer. At 6% ABV, Baby Bob is like the more accessible “child” of brewer Bob Barrar’s award-winning Russian Imperial Stout, The Russian. It pairs well with meats and sweets—a nice alternative to wine at your Thanksgiving table, perhaps? Find Baby Bob in cans at your local bottle shop, on draft at bars and restaurants or at 2SP’s tasting room in Aston, Pa.

Evil Genius I’ll Have What She’s Having

Speaking of dessert, a glass of chocolate hazelnut imperial stout from Evil Genius Beer Company would make an amazing final course after a hearty winter meal. This creamy stout offers layered flavors of roasted barley, molasses, chocolate, caramel and hazelnut (Nutella, anyone?). Though it’s so complex and rich, I’ll Have What She’s Having isn’t too heavy on the palate and is surprisingly dry at the finish. Don’t sleep on this tasty beer—it’s a limited-edition offering, available in bottles and on draft around town, and may occasionally be pouring at Evil Genius’ tasting room in Fishtown.

Misconduct Tavern + Conshohocken Brewing Company’s 76ers-Inspired Beer: Hinkie’s Sweet Revenge

Hinkie’s Sweet Revenge is a collaborative brew between Conshohocken Brewing Company and Misconduct Tavern in honor of the Philadelphia 76ers. The beer is inspired by player Joel Embiid’s love of Shirley Temples and named after former 76ers general manager Sam Hinkie. Released on October 18, this Shirley Temple-inspired 6.3% ABV Belgian witbier combines ginger, black currant and pomegranate for a unique finish. Hinkie’s Sweet Revenge is available at both Misconduct Tavern and Conshohocken Brewing Company during the basketball season.

Sly Fox O’Reilly’s Extra Stout

Sly Fox Brewing Company has released an ultra-limited edition of its flagship O’Reilly Stout this October: O’Reilly’s Extra Stout, aged in Jameson whiskey barrels. The beer was crafted as part of Jameson’s ongoing Caskmates Series, which sees its iconic Irish whiskey aged in a variety of different barrels; for the Stout Edition, it was aged in stout-conditioned whiskey barrels, making it a perfect pairing with the whiskey barrel-aged O’Reilly’s Extra Stout.

O’Reilly’s Extra Stout is an export-style stout, brewed with roasted barley, flaked barley and chocolate malt. Finished in Jameson barrels, it’s full-bodied with a smooth mocha finish, served on CO2 (rather than Nitro) to allow the whiskey notes to shine through. This beer is not being canned or bottled, and is only available at select bars and restaurants and on draft at Sly Fox’s Phoenixville location.

Yards Rival IPA

Yards Brewing Company’s Rival IPA is described as an “over-the-top” 6.2% ABV ale, featuring pale crystal and rye malts alongside a plethora Bravo and Nugget bittering hops and piney Chinook hops. After fermentation, Rival IPA is dry hopped with Centennial, Citra, Simcoe and Columbus. Bold and balanced, it pairs exceptionally well with spicy foods. This seasonal beer was released in October and is currently available in 6-packs, 12-packs and kegs.

Manayunk Brewing Co. 21st Anniversary Ale

To celebrate its 21st birthday, Manayunk Brewing Company has released a 21st Anniversary Ale. This 11.1% ABV, Belgian-style ale is fermented with Manayunk’s house Belgian yeast and a hint of Brett, then aged on a custom blend of wine grapes. For being such a big beer, this one goes down suspiciously easy, with pronounced notes of grape and just the right amount of funk. Find 21st Anniversary Ale at Manayunk’s tasting room or at local bars and restaurants.

New Belgium La Folie Grand Reserve: Geisha

The latest special release from New Belgium Brewing Company, La Folie Grand Reserve: Geisha Sour Ale, blends the much sought-after Panama Geisha coffee with New Belgium’s award-winning La Folie sour brown ale. The result is an elegant, dark 7.9% ABV sour ale that celebrates the artistry and passion behind two of the world’s most beloved liquids. The brew contains a custom blend of Colorado-grown malted barley and wheat from Fort Collins-based Troubadour Maltings and was bottled on nitrogen for a velvety mouthfeel and body.

Best of all, a portion of proceeds from the beer will contribute to a grant that will distribute climate-resistant coffee varietals to small-scale coffee farmers across the globe.

The Geisha Sour Ale is available in 750ml bottles in select markets while supplies last, and can be found with other New Belgium brews via its online beer finder.
