Those of you who travel along the SEPTA Lansdale/Doylestown regional rail line have probably noticed the abandoned reddish building at the Glenside stop with the words “Roberts Block” printed up toward the roof. The building has gone through a massive renovation period and has become home to a new restaurant, aptly named Roberts Block.
Conroy Catering owners Jack and Beth Conroy will oversee the operation, which is run by Jose and Jennifer Vargas, who own Forcella, Leila’s Bistro and Flora. Chef Bruce Santino has prepared a standard American menu with a few ambitious dishes, while the bar will include a dozen drafts, wine and cocktails. There are two dining rooms as well as a roomy bar area with reclaimed wood and exposed brick on the walls.
Roberts Block will be open Tuesday through Sunday; the bar begins pouring drinks at 4 p.m., and dining room seating starts at 5 p.m.
Find Roberts Block at 2 Roberts Ave. in Glenside; phone: (215) 690-4445.
