SustainaBITES: Buy Fresh, Buy Local This Thanksgiving

With hundreds of local farms and fresh foods in our own backyards, Chester County residents have a wealth of farm-fused reasons to be thankful this Thanksgiving.

We recently chatted with Elizabeth Comiskey, former Phoenixville Farmer’s Market Manager and current outreach coordinator for the Farmers’ Market Coalition. “We had two turkey providers in the market and basically it gave customers the chance to buy their turkey locally, learn how its’ raised and get turkeys that are free-range and not injected with hormones or antibiotics,” said Comiskey.

“It gives them an opportunity to know and make a connection with their farmer. They can support their local farmer and economy when it comes to shopping for Thanksgiving and the holidays. It has a really big impact on the whole community.” Show your farmers gratitude by buying locally for your thanksgiving feast.
