Our Recommendation: Carnitas Burrito with Mole Sauce
Where: El Limon, 103 Fayette Street, Conshohocken
Have you ever ordered the dish that gets everyone in the restaurants head to turn inquisitively as the waiter brings it to your table? Its either so colossal, or so deliciously aromatic, that everyone in the restaurant begins jealously whispering “What is that?” At El Limon in Conshohocken, this dish is the Carnitas Burrito with Mole Sauce.
The burrito is the size of a football, smothered in mole sauce and garnished with fresh tomatoes, lettuce, and sour cream. As you cut into the dish, it begins leaking hot steam and the savory filling spills over the plate. The burrito is over-stuffed with rice, melted cheese, fresh veggies, refried beans, and (in the case of the carnitas iteration) succulent pulled pork. While the burrito itself is something special, this dish is all about the mole sauce. The burrito sits in a puddle of the sauce so no bite is without its share of mole, which is exactly as it should be. The mole is a beautiful balance of sweet with a lingering spiciness; the type of spice that doesn’t hit you up front, but such that you only realize your nose is running at the end of the meal.
If you’re looking for something spicy, sweet, and savory all in one, I’d highly recommend this dish at El Limon. As for quantity, you have my word that you won’t leave El Limon hungry. On multiple occasions, I’ve doggy-bagged half of the massive burrito to “re-heat for lunch”…however, in each instance, the enticing burrito didn’t last until bedtime. Oh, and did I mention that it’s incredibly reasonably priced at $7.95? And did I further mention that you get a free margarita with your entree?
For you next best bite, take my word for it and try the Carnitas Burrito with Mole Sauce at El Limon in Conshohocken.
