The new Mile Post Pub of Whole Foods Market of Devon launched a six-week beer school series early August that offers locals an enlightening tour of various beer styles and what makes them unique.
Each Tuesday night, they close the pub from 8 to 9 pm while Mile Post’s beer guys Steve and Joe guide a tasting of 6 to 7 different beers in a specific category (German styles; Belgians; Pale Ales/IPAs; etc). They also discuss the historical and etymological origins of the various styles, and feature different cheese and food pairings to sample while tasting.
Per the course’s fee of $40, each participant will receive the private class, cheese and food samples tailored to the specific beer styles featured, a single bottle of each of the 6 or 7 beers tasted (at least 1 or 2 large-bottles per class), a Whole Foods soft 6-bottle bag, a Mile Post Pub pint glass, and the undisturbed attention of the knowledgeable and passionate beer specialists.
Joe and Steve have chosen specific beers which will highlight traditional examples of the styles being examined as well as new interpretations of those traditions. Their intention is to educate guests about the traditions of brewing, the reasons for and importance of those traditions, and of course the importance of pushing the boundaries of those traditions and creating new traditions.
There are only 15 spots for each class, so register quickly! Register by clicking here.
Remaining class dates are as follows:
- August 30: Porters and Stouts
- September 13: Belgian Styles
