Renowned hospitality professional and founder of the Philadelphia Concierge Association, Ken Alan, is teaming up with Chef Melanie Melle at her cozy Saint Peter’s Bakery to prepare an exclusive 4-course BYOB dinner during one Saturday each month. Featured will be three tempting courses, plus, a selection of Melle’s award-winning desserts at her 36-seat café & bakery, which is situated within the historic Village of Saint Peters.
“My life’s ambition has always been to be the best concierge possible,” relates Alan who, since 1994, has been a fulltime corporate concierge and has become the service industry’s most recognizable advocate for his profession.
“My dream though is like that of so many other constant cooks: to prepare special dinners for old friends and new acquaintances within the quaint confines of the most intimate country café in our region.”
Thanks to Chef Melle, this concierge will soon get his wish fulfilled. The first dinner takes place on Saturday, January 21st, 2012 at 7 pm. Cost is $35 per person (plus tax & gratuity) and will include a savory amuse bouche, a luscious salad; entrees will include Storm King Stout braised short ribs, hearty Coq au Vin in winter vegetables, and mushroom duxelle pasta purses with a three-cheese rosemary sauce, plus, a flavorful side dish, and a choice of Melanie’s spectacular desserts.
This dinner series is a unique dining addition to Chef Melle’s charming late-19th century café which serves breakfast and lunches from Wednesday through Sunday, and a light-fare dinner with live entertainment on Friday nights: “I am really excited by this opportunity to work with Ken. The Saturday, January 21st dinner is by reservation-only. Parties of two or four will be honored. One exclusive seating at 7 pm is offered.
