“Pots At Work” Exhibit at Historic Yellow Springs

If you happen to be near Chester Springs this weekend, be sure to stop in to the Lincoln Building at Historic Yellow Springs, Friday evening or Saturday afternoon for some sweets on some sweet pots.

Faculty Exhibition – October 1 – November 5 (downstairs)
Opening: October 15, 6 – 9pm

An exhibition of works by the Chester Springs Studio’s talented and renowned faculty. This is an opportunity for prospective students and the general public to review faculty work.

Pots at Work – October 15 – 29 (upstairs)
Opening: October 15, 6 – 9pm & October 16, 1-4pm

This exhibit strives to let you experience the delight that making and using pottery has in our lives. For us, there is something electric in setting the table with ware made by the hand. Pots are at work honoring the food we present, and allowing grace to inhabit even the most ordinary of our meals. Featuring the work of five CLAYBODY artists: Susan Bankert, Nell Hazinski, Lyla Kaplan, Suzanne Kent, Joyce Nagata

Hands on Clay Day – Saturday, Oct 16 – 1-4

Visitors can experience and enjoy all aspects of clay and ceramics during this free event. Begin by watching experts demonstrating hand throwing and hand building ceramics techniques. Then it’s time to get your own hands dirty. You will also have the opportunity to decorate your own painted ceramic tile for free. Or take the next step and learn about ceramic underglazes and create your own tile to be fired for $3 each. Hands-on Clay Day offers something for everyone:

  • a harvest-themed story time hosted by the Chester Springs Public Library
  • an exhibit and sale of fine ceramics
  • demonstration of still life pastel drawing
  • fall themed crafts for children
  • desserts available for purchase

Historic Yellow Springs is located a short distance off Route 113 in the village of Chester Springs, between Phoenixville and Downingtown, Pennsylvania.
