Iron Hill’s Brick Oven Bread & Beer, Oktoberfest and Beer Dinner

We’re sharing with our readers the latest from Iron Hill’s Head Brewer Tim Stumph:

We have some new beers, and a tasting for you!

This week, we are featuring a fantastic new bread shop that recently opened next door, Brick Oven! On Thursday August 26th, from 5-9pm, we will have free samples of Brick Oven’s bread, as well as some of the smoked meats and exotic cheeses they offer. Everyone, seriously, the bread coming out of this special oven is incredible! I just know you’re gonna love it because beer is liquid bread! And if you like new taste experiences like I do, you must try the Hungarian smoked Salmon on 100% rye bread, and seeded loaf dipped in truffle oil, and double glouchester with hoppy ale…..I should stop.

On October 1st (a First Friday), we plan to host an Oktoberfest celebration. A bunch of German beers, a bunch of great German specialty food items from bratwurst to Wiener Schnitzel al Holstein, some of Brick Oven’s fantastic bread, and authentic German polka music! Mark your calendar and wear your Lederhosen! I’ll send another e-mail with more information as we get closer.

As always, I’d love to hear what you have to say. Your opinion makes the world spin, and I’ll do what I can to brew what you like! Yeager’s farm pumpkins are almost ready, does anyone like pumpkin ale?

We have a new chef in our kitchen and she’s been busy getting her feet wet and getting the kitchen the way she wants it.  She and I finally got a chance to sit down and craft our first beer dinner together.  We’ve set the date for Wednesday September 29th at 7 pm.  The cost will be $65 a head including tax and gratuity.  As usual guests are welcome to come by at 6:30 for a beer with me in the brewery and a quick tour before we sit down.  For those of you who don’t know, these dinners sell out quickly.  Sometimes days, sometimes just hours.  If you’re interested give the restaurant a call at 856-273-0300 and ask to speak to a manager.   Due to the limited nature (35 seats) of this dinner our host staff will not be handling reservations.  The menu is below:

First Course
Baby Arugula Salad- goat cheese, roasted beets, crispy fried shallots, toasted almonds and peach and hopfenweizen vinaigrette.
Paired with Hopfenweizen

Second Course
Petite Crab Cakes- fennel salad, fresh corn flapjack and bacon hollandaise
Paired with Flemish Red Ale

Third Course
Habanero and Lime Marinated Rockfish- brown sugar and guajilla dusted crisp, queso fresco, jicama slaw and crema verde
Paired with Belgian IPA

Fourth Course
Blackened Pork Medallion- creamy grits, maque choux and brown butter
Paired with India Black Ale

Dessert
Chocolate-Walnut Pound Cake- lightly toasted with banana foster sauce and french vanilla ice cream
Paired with Pete’s Celebration

Cheers,

Brewer Tim
