We love a recent blog posting from “Portrait of a Farm” which features Phoenixville’s Seven Stars Farm. Bloggers “Trav and Kacy” travel throughout the northeast visiting farms, taking beautiful photographs and blogging about their adventure. Seven Stars Farm was one of the first biodynamic dairies in the country, and sits on some 300+ acres of put into a land trust by the local Waldorf School, which emphasizes farming and other practical skill building. Bloggers spoke with the farmers who founded and operated the Dairy, David and Edie. Read all about their visit here: http://bit.ly/ayN6Sf
Quick facts about Seven Stars Farm: Established in 1987; 350-acres; 80-cow herd. Products: Biodynamic and certified-organic yogurt. “We use the milk from our Jersey and Jersey crossed herd to produce Seven Stars Organic Yogurt. Our yogurt is sold via natural foods distributors throughout the eastern United States. It is available in five 32oz. flavors: Whole Milk Plain, Maple and Vanilla; and Low-Fat Plain and Maple. Organic maple syrup, organic vanilla extract and cultures are the only additional ingredients added to our unhomogenized, pasteurized milk. We produce an old-fashioned, European-style yogurt that isn’t for everyone. But for those of us who love it, it can be quite addictive!”
