About a year ago, the West Chester Food Co-Op (WCFC) grew out of discussions among a group of local foodies who felt that the local community had inadequate access to the region’s agricultural bounty. They reasoned that local farms could be made more financially viable if farmers had better access to local consumers and envisioned a virtuous circle where people would have easy access to the region’s food.
Since then, the WCFC has surveyed over 300 local residents concerning their food needs and preferences as well as their views on a community-owned grocery store, secured the assistance of the West Chester Business Improvement District and local business leaders and recruited a real estate professional and a location consultant to evaluate potential locations in West Chester, including the West Chester Post Office.
You can show your support on Friday, August 28, from 3:30–5:30 p.m. at La Baguette Magique in West Chester. Pick up some baked goods, enjoy other refreshments and chat with some WCFC representatives who will be answering questions.
