Judy’s Just Desserts is becoming the talk of the town in West Chester. From the continually evolving dessert offerings to the friendly, old-fashioned bakery vibe, it’s no wonder that those craving sweets head to Judy’s Just Desserts. Another reason is the fabulous display of ice cream treats that await those who want the perfect summertime dessert. Here are the top seven reasons why we can’t stop screaming for ice cream at this new East Gay Street shop:
Favorite Ice Cream Flavors and Unique Specialty Flavors
At Judy’s Just Desserts, not only can you choose your favorite flavors like vanilla, chocolate and strawberry, but you can also indulge in unique ice cream flavors as well. Experience a bacon maple cone or satisfy your craving for ice cream with a dish of toasted coconut. Best of all, the ice cream is hand-dipped, which gives it that old-fashioned ice cream shop feel.
Gourmet Cones Make That Ice Cream Spectacular
Another reason to plant this fresh ice cream stop on your radar is because of the gourmet cones that owner Judy Mullen makes available to her customers. Cones with pretzel pieces, Oreo crumbles and other delicious additions (chocolate chips and M&Ms!) make your ice cream even more indulgent than it already is.
Ice Cream Toppings Galore
Some ice cream purists want their dessert simple and with little or no toppings, but for those who feel that ice cream toppings are a must, Judy’s has you covered. Choose from toppings as far as the eye can see and make your ice cream cone or dish of ice cream the perfect dessert treat.
Hand-Dipped Ice Cream
It doesn’t matter if you prefer ice cream shops that stock from dairy companies or those that craft their own inventory on-site. Here, you get the best of both worlds. Judy’s husband and co-owner, Brett, makes a variety of ice cream and sorbet on the premises for customers to indulge in. Bacon maple, toasted coconut, strawberries and cream and pineapple are just a few of the options.
Judy’s Just Desserts also offers Hy-Point ice cream for added variety as well. “We try to stay local and support the local businesses,” Judy states. Hy-Point Farms is located in Wilmington, Delaware, not too far from the West Chester area.
Sorbets Offer a Specialty Twist
With Brett’s homemade sorbets, those who come to Judy’s Just Desserts for a refreshing treat will have their wishes granted with a variety of sorbet flavors. Delicious raspberry, pineapple and strawberry lemonade are just a few of the flavors that Brett makes from scratch.
“Brett likes to make sorbets because we want to have a variety for people who are lactose-intolerant and can’t have dairy,” Judy explains. The wide array of sorbet flavors provides a little bit of something for all to enjoy.
Made-to-Order Old-Fashioned Milkshakes and Fresh Fruit Smoothies
Sometimes a milkshake is in order as the perfect pick-me-up, and Judy’s Just Desserts should be your one-stop-shop for just that. The made-to-order, old-fashioned milkshakes can be crafted with any of the house ice cream flavors. Watch as your milkshake is created in an old-fashioned machine and delivered right to you.
“We use whole milk because I think that people who want a milkshake want a real milkshake,” states Judy. “And if they want it on the thinner side or thicker side, we can do that with the old-fashioned milkshake machine.”
If smoothies are more to your liking, Judy’s Just Desserts serves up smoothies made from fresh fruits in season at the time and fruits can be combined to suit your smoothie cravings.
Ice Cream Parties Perfect for All Ages
As if you needed another reason to get to Judy’s Just Desserts for its spectacular ice cream selection, here’s something else you are sure to love…ice cream parties! Judy will create the perfect ice cream party to fit the occasion. Best of all? There doesn’t have to be any particular occasion! You can simply gather the kids together, give Judy’s a call on the morning of the day you want to come in and get ready for a fabulous ice cream party where you create delicious ice cream cups or cones with the toppings you desire.
Although Judy’s Just Desserts has an excellent ice cream selection, Judy wants you to know that the shop is more than just ice cream, especially with Judy’s other dining establishment, Judy’s Kitchen, connected next door via an open doorway.
“What I’d like to see and what I’d like to offer people is that we are not just ice cream. If a family comes in and it’s Friday night where Dad has just come home from work and the kids want to go out and they’ve already eaten, they can come here for ice cream. Mom can get a piece of cake with ice cream on it and Dad can get a panini if he wants a sandwich,” Judy explains. “So it’s a little bit of everything. We’re not just ice cream, we’re not just a bakery. A family could come in and get something that makes everyone happy.”
Judy’s Just Desserts is the place to go for the old-fashioned ice cream shop experience with the convenience and multitude of offerings of a current day ice cream store.
