P.J. Whelihan’s Pub and Restaurant recently announced they are opening a new location, just south of West Chester in Birmingham Township. The new restaurant will replace Bull Durham’s Texas BBQ located along Route 202 in the Dilworthtown Shopping Center.
Whelihan’s CFO Jim Fris said, “we’re excited. It’s a great location. We think we picked a really good spot.” They hope to have the restaurant opened by May 1st.
The Birmingham Whelihan’s will be approximately 6,000 square feet. The site is smaller than the popular 10,000 square foot Downingtown location.
P.J. Whelihan’s Pub and Restaurant is probably best known for the selection of craft beers and their wings. They provide the official wings for the WIP Wing Bowl, which takes place this Friday, February 3rd. The Downingtown location recently held a Wing-off, an eating contest in which the winner secured the final eating spot for the Wing Bowl. Read about the event and watch video here.
Whelihan’s hopes to start hiring in early April and expect to employ between 50-60 people at this location.
