Update 1: the article is definitely coming out this Sunday. From this video, it sounds like we’re the big weekend news.
I normally don’t order strawberry ice cream, but for this occasion I thought that the bold pink scoops would be a fun contrast with one of my favorite green shirts. So, I held my double-scooped strawberry sweetness and sat outside of Sprazzo last (insanely hot) Friday with my laptop and a photographer from The Daily Local. Drivers and passengers zipped past the intersection of Market and Gay Streets as I did my best to manage the dripping cone and smile for the camera. I desperately struggled to keep the rosy drops from landing on my keyboard by awkwardly licking the cone as the photographer clicked away and adjusted the flashes. I knew it wasn’t working when the photographer put her camera down and said, “Mary, this isn’t working.” She continued with, “I feel like this is looking too risqu’e and I’m shooting inappropriate photographs.” And with that I was instantly mortified and immediately threw the cone away.
I swapped out the ice-cream cone for my favorite vanilla cupcake from Cupcake Gourmet, sold at Sprazzo, and I headed back outside with an iced tea for the photographer. The cupcake was certainly tasty and less messy, so I felt more comfortable chowing down on it in front of the camera. I have no clue which picture will be used for the article in an upcoming issue of the Daily Local, but I can’t wait to find out.
The night before I had met with Brian, a reporter from The Daily Local, and we had a great time discussing what is coming and going with food in West Chester. I am so curious to see what he ends up including in the piece. I never know what will come out of my mouth, so who knows what he actually quoted. We shall see.
