Once home to Union Taco and pop-up restaurant EAT, the restaurant space at 712 W. Girard Ave. will be re-opening to the public in mid-December as PIG, a quick-serve, all-pork menu restaurant run by Philadelphia Chef Joseph Shilling. The 25-seat pig emporium, which features six counter stools at an open kitchen, will embody Shilling’s pig-centric passion project.
PIG’s menu will include Piggy Chili with Ghost Pepper Jack Cheese and Nacho Chip Crumbs as well as entrees including Philly Italian Pulled Pork Spiced with Broccoli Rabe and Sharp Provolone, Carolina Barbecued Pulled Pork with Pepper Slaw, Smoked Pork Chop with Grilled Smoked Ham Chop with Pineapple Jalapeño and Braised Pork Cheeks with Onion Marmalade. All entrees are served with crispy fried small potatoes and bacon with glazed carrots.
Shilling plans on adding a new sandwich to the menu, a “PBBB” with Peanut Butter, Banana and Bacon on Toasted Home-Style Bread.
