In the wake of legislation in Pennsylvania that now allows the state’s 1,200 beer distributors to sell six-packs, growlers and single bottles, Holy Hound Taproom has announced that it is closing the bottle shop located next door. The Holy Hound Bottle Shop had just opened for business in September 2016.
The announcement was made on Holy Hound Taproom’s Facebook page on March 2:
“It is with mixed feelings that we announce the decision to close the Holy Hound Bottle Shop. This decision did not come easily, but was affected by the new Pennsylvania liquor laws that went into effect on January 15th, which now allows beer distributors to sell beer in any quantity, including growlers, single bottles, four-packs and six-packs. Combine that with the presence of beer and wine in grocery stores and soon to be convenience stores, and the path we needed to take became more clear.
Rest assured, we will still have takeout options available through the bar, and we will continue to stock rare and hard to find bottles to keep you on top of your beer game. To make this news a little more bittersweet, we are offering all of our inventory to you at 40% off starting today.
Thanks to all who have supported the bottle shop over the past few months. However, it’s time to get back to concentrating on what we do best. We appreciate your patronage and we’ll see you on the other side.”
You can still get great food and beer at Holy Hound Taproom. Current hours are Monday–Thursday from 11 a.m.–1 a.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m.–2 a.m. and Sunday from 4 p.m.–1 a.m.
