We’re sad to report that Tagine, located at 111 West State St. in Media, has permanently closed its doors. It won’t be vacant for long, though. Larielle Wood Fired Square Pie will take its spot along State Street. No word just yet on a grand opening date.
Brazuca, a Brazilian restaurant that was located at 1032 N. Providence Road, is now shuttered, too. But Media Bean Company, a collaboration between DiFabio’s 9th Street Catering Company founder Frank Agovino and Jim Wurster, co-founder of New Avenue Foundation, a nonprofit public charity whose mission is to help create more meaningful lives for people with disabilities, is moving into the spot soon.
One key part of Media Bean’s mission is to help find gainful employment and provide training for adults with disabilities. It will offer on-premise fresh-roasted, fair trade coffee from South America and Africa, and the beans will be roasted by adults with disabilities. Our Community Cup Coffee, as it is called, will be available by the cup in the new location and will also be packaged for sale in the shop as well as at farmers’ markets throughout the region. A portion of all proceeds of coffee sales will go to New Avenue Foundation.
Over in Aston, a new brewery is coming to town to join neighbor 2SP Brewing Company. Aston Abbey Brewing Company, owned by husband-and-wife team Chuck and Sue McKenna, will open at 340 Turner Industrial Way. Chuck has been a longtime homebrewer and decided to take the leap and go pro. The brewery will focus on making hand-crafted, unfiltered and unpasteurized beers in the style of the Belgian Abbeys. Follow Aston Abbey Brewing Company on Facebook for updates on an opening date.
