Tee Up for a Good Cause at Chester County Hospital’s Fore Health Golf Invitational (May 22)

Golfers looking for a great game are welcome to join in this year’s Fore Health Golf Invitational put on by Chester County Hospital. Set to be held at the beautiful White Manor Country Club in Malvern on Monday, May 22, this afternoon of golfing culminates with the hospital’s annual Miracles and Memories Dinner.

A day on the greens translates to support of Chester County Hospital’s Health Services for Women and Children’s Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the only NICU in Chester County providing advanced subspecialty newborn care. Following the game is an upscale opportunity to dine and recognize the efforts of hospital staff as well as the winning golfers of the day.

The Day’s Events

Kiss away the Monday blues with a day on the greens. This year’s event at White Manor Country Club begins with a leisurely boxed lunch following 11 a.m. registration. Event manager Lauren Roscovich shares, “Golfers will enjoy a BBQ-style lunch when they arrive at White Manor, featuring freshly grilled burgers and hot dogs, barbecue chicken, potato salad and coleslaw. Lunch will be served on the gorgeous, recently renovated patio. Refreshment stations are also featured on the course with snacks, beer and other beverages.”

A shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. will see foursomes of players tee off from different holes simultaneously, kicking off the day’s competition. The invitational is a scramble format, emphasizing fun and camaraderie, and fees include green fees, cart, tee prizes, on-course refreshments, lunch and dinner. Additionally, golfers are invited to flex their skills in this year’s Hole-In-One Contest.

Sound fun? Send in the online registration form or call (610) 431-5328 to get in on the action.

At promptly 5 p.m., cocktails replace clubs and hors d’oeuvres aplenty make their rounds. As guests unwind, final dinner preparations will be underway. The annual Miracles & Memories Dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m.

This very special dinner highlights nurses and doctors who provide exemplary care to patients in our NICU, Labor and Delivery, Maternity/Nursery and Pediatrics departments. Award winners are recognized at the dinner, as well as the winning low gross and low net foursomes of the day and contest winners.

Fore a Good Cause

This annual Golf Invitational goes well beyond recreation. As a benefit for the Health Services for Women and Children at Chester County Hospital, it has a profound impact on the lives of those served by the Neonatal and Maternal Health Programs as well as the phenomenal staff whose work is nothing short of exceptional. Proceeds from the FORE Health Golf Invitational go toward life-saving technology that complements the medical expertise of the hospital staff.

Roscovich says, “The event is planned by the Willistown Branch of the Chester County Hospital Women’s Auxiliary. Over the past 25+ years, the Willistown Branch has raised more than $900,000 in support of the hospital for capital improvements and patient services. As daughters, sisters and mothers, the Women’s Auxiliary is happy to create a great day of golf for a cause they hold dear.”

The NICU at Chester County Hospital is unique both in its superior care and in its partnership with the Children’s Hospital Of Philadelphia. As Roscovich explains, “Our neonatal care is enhanced by our unique affiliation with CHOP, which includes our joint program, CHOP Newborn Care. This innovative program combines the extensive resources of CHOP—a world leader in pediatric and neonatal medicine—with the experience and facilities of Chester County Hospital. Our inpatient pediatricians and neonatologists are all on staff at CHOP and bring an expert level of care to our youngest patients.”

Bid to Benefit

Part of the excitement is the Invitational’s fantastic online auction, which this year features some of the best golf courses in the Greater Philadelphia Area, including Merion and Waynesborough Golf Clubs.

The online auction is active now through May 23, giving you plenty of time to offer up a bid. Items will be added over time, so be sure to check back for the full list.

While winners will walk away with fabulous prizes, they’ll also have supported the many families whose lives are touched by the Chester County Hospital Foundation’s support of Women’s and Children’s Health Services.

The Heart of Miracles and Memories

The Miracles and Memories dinner is both an elegant affair and an opportunity to honor the nurses that provide exemplary physical and emotional care to their many patients.

The Charles Henry Benton Award this year will go to Kim Johnson, MSN, RN, RNC-NIC. As a NICU nurse, her compassion and service are vital to so many precious babies and their concerned families who are managing what can often be harrowing experiences together.

Erin Bartolucci, RN, is this year’s Mary Mears Award and scholarship recipient for the empathy she provides and the indelible impressions she leaves as a Labor and Delivery nurse.

As a nurturing caretaker and exemplary nurse in Maternity/Nursery, Mary (Beth) Coudriet, RN, will this year be honored with the Willistown Auxiliary Award.

For making the hospital feel like home to the children she treats and for care that extends to the whole family of the small patients she serves, Pediatric Nurse Rebecca McElroy, RN, will receive The O’Hair Family Award.

Finally, this year’s Caregiver of the Year Award will be presented to Dr. George Henry, MD, Obstetrics & Gynecology, for his exemplary service to the women and children of Chester County.
