Interview With April Margera

West Chester’s April Margera, cookbook author and proud mother of local skateboarder and prankster Bam Margera, loves West Chester dining almost as much as WC Dish does. Read on for some tidbits about April’s dining preferences, her favorite places to grab a bite in West Chester and Bam’s restaurant ventures.

WC Dish: Just for fun, order the following dining options according to your preference, starting with your favorite.

April Margera (AM):
1 – Stay at home and cook something from the cookbook or other recipes
I love to wing it.

2 – Go out for dinner
That’s always fun, but it requires Phil to put on a nice shirt!

3 – Stay home and get take-out
That’s easy when we’re doing other things.

4 – Have one of the men in my life cook for me
I’ll make sure I put 911 on speed dial…actually, Jess is a good griller, Phil is a great spaghetti chef and Bam does cold cereal really well!

WC Dish: Best place in the West Chester area for take-out and the best place to dine-in?

Take-out:
AM: This is harder than I thought…I would say Concord Pizza (205 Baltimore Pike, Glen Mills) and Hunan Chinese (1103 West Chester Pike, West Chester)

Dine-in:
AM: I have to name a few: Antonio’s Italian Restaurant, Limoncello Restaurant and McGrogan’s Oyster House

WC Dish: Where does a celeb like yourself grocery shop to make your delicious home-cooked meals?

AM: That glamorous, star-studded ACME or Giant!

WC Dish: How has your celebrity status changed your public dining experiences?

AM: Well, it depends where we are. If we are in a strange town, we are signing autographs and taking pictures during dinner; if we’re in Europe, people will acknowledge you but they keep it quiet—kind of a secret gesture; when we are in West Chester, we kind of know everyone and people here are great! We feel at home here, and it’s no big deal if anyone wants a picture or autograph.

WC Dish: Rumor has it that Bam is looking into buying a restaurant in town. Is there any truth to this? And, if so…can you dish out any info?

AM: You know, everyone was calling and asking if Bam bought Vincent’s. No, he did not. He always has some great ideas, and he may have something going, but I’m not at liberty to say.

WC Dish: Tell us where we can find your cookbooks for sale.

AM: FAIRMAN’S in West Chester (all his books are personally autographed, Aprilcooks.com and many sources soon to come!
