What a surprise I had waiting in my inbox over the weekend! I received an email from someone I met while in high school and whom I haven’t spoken to in years. Greetings from the circus! I’ve been enjoying your food reviews and witty anecdotes on your site for over a month now. I like your style. You know, it’s funny how 2 people from little ol’ Pennsylvania go separate ways and yet end up blogging about food.
This is Nathan; you may or may not remember me from those distant high-school days. I think we met at a REACH workcamp thing somewhere in TN, perhaps? Anyhow, fast forward in time. I went to Temple University, taught middle-school music in Virginia and now I play lead trumpet for the Greatest Show on Earth. Well, I don’t just play trumpet…
Because I get paid to travel, I figured, “what an opportunity to drink and eat the country.” Ok, so maybe my brain was a little more basic in its mission ( ie, FOOD…COFFEE), but the result was the same. I started a coffee blog titled “Search for the Best Mocha Latte in the World” and last August launched a podcast of the same title.
It’s been challenging and fun, but quite the learning experience, too.
I wanted to say hello, tell you to keep up the good work AND to ask if you have any good coffee recommendations in your area. I’m making an epic motorcycle trip up from SC to visit my parental units in PA, and then am swinging back down through Philly, Baltimore, DC, Williamsburg, VA, and then back to SC. It sounds exciting now, although I’m sure my butt will share a different opinion about halfway through.
Anyways, keep being the zealous foodie that you were born to be, and I look forward to hearing from you.
