This Saturday, December 11 at 3 pm, the borough of Downingtown will host their annual holiday parade along Lancaster Avenue, beginning at Aston Avenue and ending in the east at Whiteland Avenue.
With the parade growing every year, this year promises to be bigger than ever, with participants including the Downingtown High School Marching Band, who are on their way to Pasadena, CA for the 2011 Rose Bowl Parade, Cheyney University Marching Band, Chester County Emerald Society Pipe Band, Uptown String Band and Bishop Shanahan Jazz Band. Of course, there will various dance and twirling units, floats, fire trucks, community groups, antique cars and much, much more.
Also, as part of Downingtown’s Good Neighbor Christmas, live music will flood the streets before and after the parade, with Downingtown East’s Vocal Ensemble, St. Joseph’s Catholic School Chorus, plus several others performing live.
School of Rock’s Nicole Zell is slated to perform at Firecreek Restaurant from 5 to 7 pm, and if you have yet to see this local 16-year-old rockstar live, this is the perfect opportunity.
Tons of local businesses, including Downingtown Country Gifts, will also take part in the fun-filled afternoon, and for the entire day’s roundup, click here: http://dtownchristmas.com/Events.html
