Turning on your oven in anticipation of preparing a delicious home cooked meal for your family without the headache of having to dirty the kitchen? Mission possible.
Bryn Mawr’s Bake 425, an artisan bake at home pizza shop, gracefully planted itself on the Main Line last month. Using ingredients chosen from the best local, sustainable and organic vendors, “Chief Pizza Officer” Peter Howey, “The Big Cheese” Aaron Nocks, and organic guru Elizabeth Comiskey have created a concept that gives you and your family the perfect reason to get back to the kitchen table.
“Our mission is to provide food that you can be proud to serve in your home,” Howey emphasized as he demonstrated to me just how easy the bake at home process is for the customer. With a cardboard tray, parchment paper, and your choice of over a dozen pizza creations atop one of their signature thin crusts, all you have to do is just “turn the dial to 425 and within minutes your kitchen will smell like you’ve been prepping all day.”
It’s an enticing thought, and one I quickly understood just by the aromas noted as soon as I stepped in the store. Gorgeous potted herbs dot the windowsills and local vendors are listed on the walls; it is a complete experience for the customer’s fives senses.
After just minutes in the oven, I was savoring each bite I took into two of the popular choices, the “Earth Lover” and the “Nutty Chick”, and I found myself overwhelmed by quality. “Together we make it ourselves,” said Howey with a smile. Making just one of these flavor packed pizzas without the help of Bake 425 would require a lengthy grocery list, a lofty price tag and a lot of time.
To complete any dinner or special occasion there is also an excellent variety of hand picked salads, homemade dressings, bake at home ginormous cookies and apple crisp. As a gluten free, vegan, organic and whole-wheat heaven, Bake 425 is making feel-good pizza possible.
