Brandywine River Museum

Celebrate mom with an enchanted day at one of the region’s most treasured destinations. Begin the day with free admission to the Brandywine River Museum from 9 a.m. to noon. After taking a stroll along the river and viewing their extensive galleries with collections by three generations of Wyeths and Barry Moser: Bookwright exhibition on view throughout May 22, that features engravings and water colors by an award-winning artist. Take in breakfast with a view (of the beautiful Brandywine River) in their museum restaurant, cost is $5 per person (includes juice, coffee, tea or milk) and $3.50 for children. End the day by visiting a Wildflower, Native Plant and Seed Sale which was named “one of the country’s best” by Town & Country magazine.

Kimberton Community Fair’s All You-Can-Eat Spaghetti Dinner

Skip the expensive dinner this Mother’s Day and enjoy some carbo-loading for a good cause from 4 to 7p.m. on Saturday, May 7th. In addition to the pasta dinner sponsored in part by Franco Ristorante, there will be a 50/50 raffle every hour, a bake sale of homemade desserts, and a free flower for mom (while supplies last). Tickets are $8 for ages 11 and up and $4 for children ages four to ten (ages three and under are free). Proceeds benefit the 83rd annual fair that raises money for the Kimberton Fire Company. Longwood Gardens

Instead of giving Mom flowers this year, take her to see thousands of flowers at Longwood Gardens. After strolling through these renowned gardens, head over to the beautiful ballroom to feast on a buffet with a wide array of meats, veggies, soups, salads and desserts. Tickets include garden admission and are $57 ($46 members) for ages 12 and over, $31 ($25 members) for ages five to 11, and $5 for ages four and under. Mother’s Day Express with West Chester Railroad

Sunday, May 8, Noon and 2 p.m.
Pack a picnic lunch, grab the family, and treat mom to a ride on the historic West Chester Railroad. This nostalgic 90 minute train ride to through beautiful Chester Creek Valley ends with a stop at their quaint picnic grove in Glen Mills. Need the perfect gift for mom? On Sunday May 1st, the Enchanted Potter, Wendy Walton, will be selling her handcrafted beautiful pottery at the Black Walnut Winery Tasting Room in Phoenixville. Moms get a free tasting (tastings are $6 for seven wines) throughout Mother’s Day weekend at Sadsburyville and Phoenixville locations.

Enjoy a fabulous brunch catered by Triple Fresh at the Sadsburyville location on May 8th from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Brunch includes an omelet station, an assortment of mini quiche, breakfast meats, yogurt with granola, fresh fruit, assorted breads & pastries, coffee, tea, juice & water, glass of wine and Bridge Street Chocolates for mom. All day on May 7th and 8th, Chaddsford Winery will offer complimentary wine tastings for all moms. While you are there, enjoy a picnic lunch on their scenic grounds with a delicious spring food plate by Joseph’s Catering or pick up a bouquet from their outdoor flower market. No reservations required. The wine tasting fee for non-moms is just $8.

Paradocx Vineyards

Throughout Mother’s Day Weekend, Paradocx Vineyards invites your family to celebrate mom with a wine tasting and bountiful spread of cheese, pastries and fruit at their charming winery. Tastings are 12 p.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. Be sure to call (610) 255-5684 and reserve your spot by April 29th. Adult tickets are $25 in advance ($30 day of), and children are $10 in advance ($15 day of). Only 20 spots are available for the selected times.

Penns Woods Winery

Penns Woods Winery has a special present for mom on Mother’s Day Weekend (from noon to 6 p.m.)–a free tasting! Bring your own picnic basket or pick up one of theirs starting at $45 (it includes sandwiches, sides and cookies for two, your choice of bottle of wine), they even supply a blanket for your picnic!  While your there, purchase up some local chocolate or taste naturally infused olive oil and aged balsamic vinegar. Tastings for non-moms is $7 for seven wines.
