Handcrafted Cookie Company to Close its Doors

In a sea of sugary boutiques boasting on mini-cakes with crowned tops, it is an obsessive sweet tooth’s relief when something fresh falls into the dessert-drenched mix. Better yet, what tops the icing on any cake is the availability of the sweet treats in proximity to you.

Living just around the bend from Handcrafted Cookie Company is a situation that should victoriously receive two gold stars. One reason would be that they celebrate the blessed cookie and two because the bakers choose Phoenixville as the town to trot their only site.

Chad and Theresa Williams, the darling duo behind the all-natural baking company, have fulfilled the need for sugary fiends breezing around Bridge Street to treat themselves to a health-conscious mouthful of dessert. However, their strides in transforming Phoenixville into a healthy haven for baked good lovers, one cookie at a time, will soon come to a close.

As of today, January 10, they sadly announce that they will close their doors at the end of February. Here’s what they revealed today, via their Facebook:

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that our ownership of The Handcrafted Cookie Company will end this Feb. 28. Due to family priorities, we have had to make this very difficult decision. We’ve learned a lot in two years, made new friends, and experienced huge changes in our lives, the birth of our daughter by far the biggest of these. Thank you so much for your support and encouragement. We could never have done this without all of you.

Sincerely,

-Chad, Theresa and Maya Williams

Although our sweet treat-loving hearts are crushed that our favorite local bakerythe one that made use of original recipes that are free of hydrogenated oil and corn syrup,  and concocts desserts like classic chocolate chip cookies amidst creative concoctions of lavender vanilla and chocolate hotties (fiery japs in rich cocoa)is closing, we will forever praise them. Also, we can’t conclude without mentioning several more notable mouth-watering bites like their raspberry mint and coconut sugar cookies, blueberry oatmeal, honey roasted nuts, chocolate mint and chocolate grapefruit.

So please, if you have yet to head to their brick-exposed spot of 24 South Main Street, hurry up! You have over one month to gobble up with gorgeous goodies!

And, if you are wondering what will happen with the HCC space, Chad has also revealed the following:

We’ve had some interest in purchasing the business and would of course prefer to see the store continue on, with or without us. Please don’t hesitate to pass the info. along to anyone you think might be interested. Ad on CL is here: http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/bfs/2153333217.html
