On Tuesday, June 21, beginning at 7 p.m., the region’s most celebrated brewery and restaurant, Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant (30 East State Street, 610-627-9000), will host a special Summer Solstice Brewmaster’s Dinner featuring five courses of seasonal fare paired with their award-winning beers for $75 per person, including tax and gratuity. The event is limited to 45 guests, so reservations are required.

“To celebrate the Summer Solstice, we are bringing together the ingredients and beers of the season with this special Brewmaster’s Dinner,” says Head Brewer Bob Barrar, who worked with Executive Chef Dave Anderson to create the menu and beer pairings.

Menu items will include:  Chilled Shellfish, mussels with white bean-pesto puree and oysters on the half shell with Belgian wit mignonette, paired with Belgian Wit, a light-bodied, unfiltered Belgian-style wheat beer brewed with orange peels and coriander seeds;  Yellow Tomato Gazpacho with crab pico de gallo, paired with Hefeweizen, a traditional, unfiltered Bavarian wheat beer that is a light and effervescent thirst quencher;  Applewood-Smoked Duck Flatbread, topped with creamy brie and micro greens on housemade bread, paired with Smokin’ Blonde Ale, a Belgian-style blonde ale with subtle, sweet smoke flavor from the use of smoked malts;  Grilled Hanger Steak topped with spicy portobella mushroom butter, roasted poblano-chorizo mashed potatoes and charred plum tomatoes, paired with Saison, a classic Belgian-style farmhouse ale that is unfiltered, bright and light-bodied;  and Blueberry French Toast with vanilla ice cream and fresh peach compote, paired with Peach Berliner Weiss, a pale, German-style wheat beer that is light bodied with refreshingly tart, acidic lemon character and little hop bitterness.

Founded by home brewers Mark Edelson and Kevin Finn and restaurateur Kevin Davies in Newark, DE in 1996, Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant is the region’s fastest-growing restaurant group, blossoming from one restaurant and brewery to eight locations across the mid-Atlantic.  Each is dedicated to producing and serving top-quality hand-crafted beers and cuisine in a warm and hospitable setting, and all are open seven days a week for lunch and dinner.  Their acclaimed beers have accumulated a wealth of awards from the nation’s top beer festivals, and their restaurants have earned more than 100 “Best of” nods from local and national publications.
