This Friday, I took a trip to Penns Woods Winery, kicking off my last three day weekend of the summer with a short drive out of the city to their tasting room in Chadds Ford. I heard that they had just made their first batch of sangria, and I had to have a taste!
I brought my boyfriend, Ron, along for the trip—I couldn’t sip such delicious wines solo—and we arrived at the tasting room just after noon. Andrea led us in a short tasting, and we had a great time sampling everything from a smoky Merlot to their wonderfully crisp Pinot Grigio.
Next up was the Sangria. Andrea explained that this is their first batch, and it features their Pinot Grigio, peaches and pineapples. She poured us each a taste, and I was happy to see there were chunks of fruit in each of our glasses. I love that! The refreshing pinot really shines, and the fruit flavors are perfect. It’s a sweet drink, but I expect that of sangria.
After the tasting, we grabbed two glasses of sangria and headed out to the porch to enjoy. They’ll be continuing to serve sangria each weekend in August, and I can already predict that I’ll return for their next batch. Don’t wait to get your taste of this lovely summer drink!
