When the Dish Trip team travels, we always prefer to stay at a Sage Hospitality property. It’s like staying with friends and each time our team has a unique, positive and inspiring experience. One of our favorite Sage properties is The Curtis in Denver.
On a recent trip to film a food-flight challenge in celebration of National Peanut Day, we were filming in flight so we could choose any city to stay in for the night. We love The Curtis so much we decided to pay them a visit in Denver.
This quirky hotel is not just a place you stay, it’s a place you experience. From the minute we walk through the door, we are immersed in the quirky, fun atmosphere full of pop-art, toys and sophisticated silliness. Cartoons play in the lobby and a Five & Dime shop, filled with treats from the past, sits next to the check-in desk. Our favorite aspect of this hotel is that each floor has it’s own theme and every detail has been ‘revved up’ to create a boutique, one-of-a-kind downtown Denver, Colorado hotel experience.
Themed floors include the One-Hit Wonder floor and the “spooky” 13th Floor (most hotels skip this floor number). Chic rooms are fully equipped with flat screen televisions, iPods and the comfiest of beds. When we need help awaking from the comfort of our bedding, we just request a wake-up call from Elvis or Austin Powers — just a couple of the fun amenities at this Downtown Denver hotel!
The Dish Trip crew was happy to film this episode of the SWA Stew with Mr. Brooks Thomas of Southwest Airlines (watch it here) in The Curtis Hotel.
Attached to this humorous and modern hotel is The Corner Office. Known for their outstanding cocktails and designed with good times and comfort in mind, the bustling bar and energetic dining rooms feature retro-chic interiors infused with intrigue. Progressive comfort food mixed with international flavors give traditional favorites a fresh twist. We explored the cocktail list and dug into the menu that features street food, sharable plates and global influences — all of which ranges from southern fare like Low Country Shrimp and Grits with mussels, tomato, fennel, confit pork belly over slow-cooked artisanal grits to Chicken Tikka Masala with peas and Jasmine rice.
We were only in town for a few hours but their friendly staff, vibrant atmosphere, and comforting cuisine made this a memorable stay. Have a peek at what we tried, it’s all detailed and pictured below:
Xato-Catalan Niçoise served with Romesco sauce, oil-cured tuna, fingerling potatoes, hard-boiled egg, haricots verts with olive vinaigrette.
Crispy Calamari + Rock Shrimp served with Thai chili sauce and aji amarillo aioli.
Baked Lobster Mac + Cheese crafted with lobster-cognac cream, mascarpone, asiago and parmigiano-reggiano.
Steak Frites: an 8 oz. all-natural hanger steak served with bordelaise and salad verte—and of course, a hearty dose of fries.
