Doc Magrogan’s University City Celebrates Mardi Gras, Hosts 12-Course Fat Tuesday Feast

There’s no shame in wanting to be a part of the Mardi Gras action. Most people dream of it their whole lives but never make the trip. Thankfully, there are some nearby options that don’t include pricey plane travel, like Doc Magrogan’s Oyster House of University City.

Chef Karen Weinstein is the culinary brain behind their Mardi Gras offerings, which will feature New Orleans-inspired dishes. Diners can choose between an a-la-carte menu for lunch or dinner between February 8th and 12th and/or the 12-course Fat Tuesday Tasting Menu for $45 on Tuesday, February 12. The fresh, seafood-focused Fat Tuesday Menu features Cajun and Creole favorites and a choice of traditional NOLA desserts. Check it out:

In addition to Weinstein’s 12-course Fat Tuesday tasting menu, her a-la-carte lunch and dinner options will satisfy any fan of Bayou cuisine. Appetizers include Fried Oysters with Spicy Cajun Slaw ($8) and Crab Dip with Crab Chips ($9). Entrees include Cornmeal Fried Catfish over Jasmine Rice, Sautéed Spinach and Honey-Chile Lime Sauce ($17); Blackened Salmon with Corn and Crab Salsa, Roasted Potatoes, Vegetables, Lemon Butter ($24); and Pork Tenderloin with Cheddar Cheese and Jalapeño Grits ($22). Diners can also wash down Chef Weinstein’s sumptuous cuisine with Kraken Black Spiced Rum Hurricanes for $8 or Abita Mardi Gras Bock beers for $5.
