There’s no place like Media for the holidays! Head down to State Street this season for fab dining, great shopping and so much more. We’ve got the full lineup of events:
Santa’s Arrival & Festival of Lights
When: Friday, November 29, starting at 5 p.m.
Greet the jolly old elf himself at the Delaware County Courthouse! Festivities start at 5 p.m. with the Phillie Phanatic and Santa Claus as special guests. When Santa turns on the lights this year, he’ll illuminate new lights on the buildings along Veterans Square, connecting Front Street to State Street! Bring a nonperishable food item or toy to donate—Star Wars characters from the 501st Garrison Carida will be on hand to collect contributions for Toys for Tots and the Media Food Bank.
Black Friday & Small Business Saturday
When: Friday, November 29, & Saturday, November 30
This year, make the commitment to shop locally at Media’s wonderful downtown shops. Free parking will be available on Black Friday and Small Business Saturday!
Carriage Rides
When: December 4, 11, & 18, 6–9 p.m.
Take a trip back in time with a carriage ride through the streets of downtown Media. The carriage rides meet in front of the Delaware County Courthouse.
Santa’s Village
When: December 14–23; weekdays 3–7 p.m., weekends noon–4 p.m. (also 6–9 p.m. on December 14)
Why wait in line? Visit Santa in his village inside Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union of Media (located at 100 W. State Street). Whisper in Santa’s ear weekdays from 3 to 7 p.m. or weekends noon to 4 p.m.
New Year’s Eve Community Celebration & Ball Drop
When: December 31, starting at 11 p.m.
Kick off 2014 in Everybody’s Hometown! The New Year’s Eve Ball Drop Celebration will be held in front of Spasso, with music by Philly Gumbo starting at 11 p.m. and the ball drop happening at midnight.
