Greener Partners Goes Mobile with The Farm Explorer

Exciting things are happening at Greener Partners! Greener Partners recently introduced its Farm Explorer™ – a living, hands-on mobile farm that connects children and families with food from seed to plate. Based on research that a curriculum combining gardening and nutrition improves student attitudes toward  fruits and vegetables, Farm Explorer inspires people to eat more fresh food and provides tools for healthier eating.

Chef Patrick Feury of Nectar Restaurant in Wayne will be hosting the Farm Explorer kick-off event on Sunday, April 7, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. The champagne reception will include a tour of the Farm Explorer, demonstrations, educator introductions and a ceremony introducing the initiative’s partners, IBC Foundation’s Healthy Futures initiative and The Junior League of Philadelphia. This is an invitation-only event. To be added to the guest list, email Laura Vernola. Space is limited, so snag your invitation soon!

Can’t make it to the kick-off event? Farm Explorer will be out at many community events, including visits to The Longview Center for Agriculture in Collegeville on Saturday, April 20, as well as Villanova University’s 43rd Annual Earth Day Celebration Event in Villanova on Monday, April 22.

Farm Explorer will also host demonstrations on weekends during the five weeks of pick-your-own Strawberry Days at the Longview Farm Market, beginning the last week of May. Check the Greener Partners’ website for a full list of upcoming Farm Explorer interactive opportunities.
