Celebrate National Farmers’ Market Week in Chester County

You may be thinking to yourself that nothing even remotely good came out of the winter that we all experienced just a few months ago. And you’re mostly correct. Mostly. Back in February, Victory Brewing Company received the 2014 Sustainable Agriculture Business Leadership Award from the Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture (PASA). Part of this award included a $500 honorarium. Victory, ever the do-gooders, decided to pass this along to a local nonprofit organization, Growing Roots Partners, which organizes and hosts farmers’ markets in Chester County.

Equally as do-good as Victory, Growing Roots Partners decided to match that $500 honorarium and put it to good use. In celebration of National Farmers’ Market Week (through August 9), that now $1000 honorarium is being distributed throughout three local farmers’ markets in Downingtown, Malvern and Eagleview. Shoppers will have plenty of chances to win “market dollars” that can be used to purchase goods at the markets. Ultimately, this lands back in the pockets of local farmers and artisans.

“Not only was receiving the PASA Award an incredible honor, but we are also excited to see how we are able to give back to the local community as a result of the honorarium,” says Victory’s President and Brewmaster Bill Covaleski. “The folks at Growing Roots Partners play such an important role in connecting consumers to farmers and food artisans and we are just happy to support that mission.”
