Memorial Day weekend is almost here! Although not summer just yet, it has always been an unofficial start to the warm weather season. As with past Memorial Day weekends in the Downingtown area and beyond, there are plenty of events taking place this year as well. Review your options below and get ready for an event-filled Memorial Day weekend.
Top Local Events to Attend
Memorial Day at Wyebrook (May 22–24)
Wyebrook Farm, located in Honey Brook, is the place to go for all of your grilling necessities this weekend. Steaks, burger blends, brats, Italian sausage and more fresh meats are in the Wyebrook Farm fully stocked meat case. On Saturday, May 24, listen to the sounds of Bob Beach and Friends when they play at the Farm from noon to 3 p.m.
Devon Horse Show and Country Fair (May 22–June 1)
The Devon Horse Show and Country Fair is a favorite Main Line event each year. The Devon Horse Show will take place each day with various events happening day/night. The Country Fair opens each day at 10 a.m. for the Midway and shopping vendors (except for the first Sunday when it opens at 11 a.m.). Black Walnut Winery’s Blues Fest (May 23–25)
For the wine lover, there is no place you should be Memorial Day weekend other than Black Walnut Winery in Sadsburyville. Come indulge in Bank Barn Red on May 23 and make sure that you don’t miss the Black Walnut Winery Blues Fest, taking place on Saturday and Sunday, May 24 and May 25. During the Blues Fest, guests will enjoy live music from a wide array of Blues bands while sipping Black Walnut Winery varieties.
Big Band and Broadway at Longwood Gardens (May 24)
Welcome the unofficial start to summer with live music at Longwood Gardens on Saturday, May 24. Listen to Big Band and Broadway era tunes while catching a fantastic fireworks display. This event often sells out, so purchase tickets ahead of time on the Longwood Gardens website to ensure you don’t miss out. There will also be a summertime barbecue on site prior to the event for those who want to grab a bite to eat.
Tour Victory Brewing Co.’s Parkesburg Brewery (May 24)
Join the Downingtown-founded brewery for a chartered bus trip, tour and beer experience to their brand-new Parkesburg brewery! This new bus trip and tour option includes a behind-the-scenes look at the brewery, as well as a food and beer component. Tickets, which are $58 per person, include the following:
- Guided school bus ride from Downingtown to Parkesburg, and back again!
- A welcome beer in the catering hall, followed by an introduction to Parkesburg
- Full guided tour and explanation of the brewing process from the production floor, including stops in the fermentation room, mezzanine bridge, brewhouse, packaging line and hop cooler
- A one-of-a-kind commemorative Parkesburg glass, available only to guests attending this event

Victory for Goodness Cycling Event (May 25)
Join our hometown brewery for an inaugural cycling event on May 25, starting at 9:30 a.m., that kicks off at their Acorn Lane brewery and brewpub and routes to the new Victory Brewing Company in Parkesburg. With three category 5 hills, beautiful scenery, a tour of the new Parkesburg brewery and lunch upon your return to Downingtown, this 35-mile round trip cycling event is sure to challenge and inspire even experienced riders. All proceeds of the day benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand. Purchase your tickets here (cost is $50).
