Veterans Day is Tuesday, November 11. Commemorate it with a trip to the birthplace of the U.S. Army and other spots in Montgomery County where you can honor our veterans.
Valley Forge, the birthplace of the U.S. Army, is a fitting place to pay tribute to those who have sacrificed for our freedoms. Visit Valley Forge National Historical Park for these special events on November 11:
- The Commemoration Ceremony at the National Memorial Arch will begin at 11 a.m., when the National Park Service is joined by local and national military organizations to honor our nation’s heroes. Guest speaker will be Brigadier General Steven A. Shapiro, Commander of Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support in Philadelphia.
- From 12–3 p.m., the Muhlenberg Brigade Huts will provide the setting for a program marking “American Military through the Ages.” Park staff, volunteers and veterans will present America’s military history from the perspectives of a variety of conflicts, including the Revolutionary, Civil and Vietnam Wars.
Montgomery County also has a number of other places and events to pay your respects to veterans on and around November 11. Find full information on the ValleyForge.org website.
