Learn to Bake Artisanal Bread with Life’s Patina (Feb. 28)

Artisan Bread

Life’s Patina at Willowbrook Farm, known for its unique pop-up barn shows, will be hosting an artisan sourdough bread baking class with Jared Alvare, a local breadbaker who distributes his artisan loaves through Chester County farmers’ markets and CSAs, on Sunday, February 28.

Sourdough, a naturally leavened and slowly fermented bread, is the pinnacle of artisan bread and is sought after for its taste, texture and health benefits. In this workshop, you will explore the process and rhythm of baking artisan bread and how to fit bread into your family’s daily routine. You will leave with an understanding of the baking process and how to balance it in your everyday life.

Each attendee will receive a bread mixing bowl, flour sack towel, bench knife, starter culture, bread recipes and delicious loaf that they will bake during the workshop. In addition, each attendee will go home with a completed dough loaf to bake at home the following day. A tasting will follow the class with house-made infused oil and house-made butter.

There are two sessions—morning and afternoon—to choose from; the cost is $100 per guest. For more information and registration, visit the event page on Life’s Patina’s website.
