Get in the holiday spirit on Saturday, December 17, during a walking tour of Downtown York led by local historian Terrence Dutchie Downs.
Learn of York yuletide firsts, Central PA holiday traditions and Downtown York history at various outdoor and indoor stops, including the Goodridge Freedom Center (123 E. Philadelphia St.) and the Christmas Putz at First Moravian Church (39 N. Duke St). A Christmas Putz is a retelling of the story of Christ’s birth through narration and music, while tiny lights illuminate each miniature scene. Putz is from the German word “putzen,” meaning to decorate.
Stay tuned as additional stops are added. This is a walking tour that will last 75–90 minutes and will be both indoor and outdoor.
The tour will meet at the southeast corner of Continental Square (outside Northwestern Mutual) and will begin at 11 a.m.
Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children and can be purchased online.
