Phoenixville’s Giant Food Store has successfully bid on a license to sell beer and wine in an auction involving what had been “dead licenses” in the state, according to a report by The Daily Local News:
“The amount for the winning bid was $454,301. The supermarket chain now has 32 stores selling beer and wine, including ones in Exton, Havertown, Royersford, Springfield and St. Davids in the region. In addition to the eight Giants picked up in this round—if they receive final PLCB and municipal approvals—it had 11 winning bids in the fall auction. If all receive final approvals, Giant will have more than 50 supermarkets in the state selling beer and wine.”
